The King of the Gryphons of Light soared over the land, his leopard hindquarters shining in the sunlight. He landed upon a natural arch in the cliffs that were home to so many gryphons. He shook his feathery mane, and screeched with the force of his mighty voice.
It carried far, his noble voice of truth. He was of noble birth, noble descent, noble blood line. But that was not why he was a leader. It was because from birth he had been endowed with the ability, honor, valor, and strength to lead. His name was Kyler of Keil, a far off land in the extreme north of Acadia. It was much colder there, filled with icy faces and frozen cliffs. But he loved the warm, arrid conditions that dominated here. But now, it was late winter, and the air was crisp and clean. It remeinded Kyler of home. Of Keil. But he was never homesick.
His greyish white wings ruffled in the gentle breeze as he stood proudly over the cliffs. Snow still clung to the walls, slowly melting as the seasons began to change. Kyler called out again, his voice resonating through the canyons. He sat on his white haunches to wait. He had come here such a short time ago - and it was time to build his kingdom.

Over head a large blue and gold creature was flying. The creature had large muscular lion paws, with wolf hindquarters. His body was goldish yellow, with a large blue feathur and fur mane. The gryphon stopped, huvering in the cold chilly air.He stretched out his lion paws way in front of him,his blue claws were very sharp, and pointed.Just by looking at his large claws gives you the shivers, the gryphon lifted his head and screeched. He was calling back to the other gryphon,it was long and loud.He then clamped his powerful jaws shut, and soared over to a rock on a nearby cliff. The gryphon stared at the King and waited for an answer, then again,he opened his large beak and roared, the noise flew across the plains, over mountains,it went everywhere, calling every gryphon.Then,silence.

Kyler's majestic white head curved above him at the sound of another male gryphon. His long black talons scraped the cold sandstone as he waited. When the creature came into view, Kyler rose, his immense hight, weight, and strength clearly visible. It angered him slightly when the male gave out his own call of gathering - that was Kyler's job. But Kyler decided to toss it aside for now, so he clamped his beak shut. The gryphon king stepped forward, his talons and claws clicking against the stone. "Welcome" Kyler said with a short bow of respect - not submission. Kyler raised his head, towering over this new gryphon. "My name is Kyler of Keil, and this is my land." He stood tall, his long furry tail swaying gently behind him. "So then, have you come to join me?"

Kyler churred lightly, he had once been as brash as this young gryphon. He ruffled his feathers as a cool breeze came from the north. It made him think of Keil - that wondrous frozen world of peaks and mountains. His sapphire blue eyes glimmered in the light from the orange sun. He stared out into the horizon, waiting. His talons, mounted on scaly grey falcon's legs, gripped the cold sandstone surface of the cliff. With a call of excitement, Kyler leapt into the air, spiraling upward.
His mighty wings carried him high above the tops of the canyon before he turned and folded his wings in. He shot downwards like a dart, his long neck stretched out ant straight, his entire body long and streamlined like a torpedo. At the last moment before any other gryphon would have hit the frozen river at the bottom of the canyon, Kyler spread his mighty wings and flew parallel to the rocky surface. As he flew, he extended his talons, scraping the ice leaving beautiful curls of sheared ice behind him. With a mighty screech he picked up speed, flashing past bare shrubs and rock.
He easily glided over natural arches that breached the canyon's walls with tiny adjustments to the feathers in his wings. He was a white blur against the reddish orange sandstone of the cliffs. Another thick archway came into view, and he latched onto it with his mighty talons. The momentum he carried sent him circling around the arch, now flying upside down the opposite way he had come.
Kyler quickly righted himself, enjoying these aerobatics. He came down close to the river and extended his neck toward it, barely scraping the ice with his soft golden beak. The ice began to spread and leave a wake as if the river were no longer frozen. And indeed, the icy coat of white melted away, releasing the river from winter's strong hold. Spring deserves a welcoming comittee. Kyler thought in half jest.
The river was broad and flowing now as he again appeared above the rim of the cliffs. He hovered there a moment before extending his hind legs and landing softly. Kyler smiled over at Ty and folded his wings contentedly. With the river freed, life would soon return to Gryohon Ridge.

Jexro wondered arond with his powerful mussles flexing as he walked. Then he decided to move into a fly, so he spread his wings suddenly and rose into the sky. He loved the feel of the wind soaring under his wings and intertwining with his feathers. This was the pleasure in his life for he had little to do being a free gryphon who did not yet belong to a tribe. As he flew higher and higher into the sky, he spotted others like him. They were just below him as he spiraled down, doing a back flip as he landed. He had much time to practice as he was very easily amused and learned quickily. Also he had nothing better to do. "Hello. I am Jexro, but you may call me Jex if you must call me by a shorter name. I prefere Jexro though." he stated what he wanted very clearly. "I wish to be accepted somewere. Are you the one I ask this of?" he asked Kyler. The wind blew slightly, enough to rustle his multicolored feathers and make him look to the skies. Thank you he told them in his mind.

Ty saw Jexro near his new leader, and soared down to see what was going on,he stood nice and tall besides Kyler, with his wings standing up on his back, ready to extend them and fly of.He glared at the new comer, not saying a word, waiting for Kyler to tell him what to do.

Jexro glanced at Ty. "Am I invading someone dear to you's space?" he asked getting a little nosey. "If so then I am sorry, but I do not know anyone and am just looking for acceptance. I was hoping to find freinds here, but it may not come to that. " he looked suspiciously at Ty. "If that is the case then just say the word and I will remain how I was. Lone and free myself. I do not mind it as much as one might assume." he told both of them, but mainly Kyler. He spread his wings and prepared to take flight if it was nessicary.

Kyler watched the new gryphon with eagerness. As Ty continued to be rude he was tempted to siply slash him with his talons - but his honor forbade him. Kyler stepped forward, glaring slightly at Ty. "I am Kyler of Keil, I have come to begin a tribe." He stood tall and bowed his head respectfully to Jexro. "You are welcome here Jexro. For as long as you desire."

"Thank you, I will not wear my welcom either." he told "Forgive me though, I can be a bit jugmental(is that a word?) but I mean nothing by any of it most times. But I am a rather good hunter and good at spotting things far away. Also I have many unseen talents that will, in time, reveal themselves." he tolf Kyler. "Kyler, I am honored to be in your clan." he bowed to his leader. "Ty, lets get to a better start shall we?" he walked over to Ty. You could see his mussles flex as he walked slowly. His legs tightened and his wings folded back once more as he sat down next to Ty.

Kyler grinned. He resigned himself to stay atop the cliffs while his two companions hunted. He looked down into the cliffs, where the river now roared. He wondered how many gryphons lived in and around Gryphon Ridge.

A young gryphon raced across the ground. Large hawk talons and cheetah claws graced the dusty earth. Enormous orange-red wings folded against the gryphon's back, reducing wind resistance. Amber eyes followed the target, a moose. When the moose tried to make a sharp turn, the gryphon was able to was well with it's long, rudder-like tail. Though how much the moose ran, the gryphon was faster, and even seemed to be holding back her speed. Suddenly, in a flurry of dirt and dust, the gryphon was directly on the moose, pinning it down. Anxious, chestnut eyes of the prey met the sneering, amber eyes of the predator. Suddenly, the ebony talons of the gryphon released the moose, and the gryphon leapt off of it. As the Amber eyes met the confused, chestnut eyes, the gryphon only muttered,"Not a very exciting toy to not fight back", before striding away.
Phadyn was the gryphon's title, named by the vixin that she was raised by. After she learned to hunt and survive on her own, she had become much more hardy than many others of her kin. Though her large wingspan enables her to soar easily, she was much more comforfable on the ground. She has beautiful redish feathers that covered her torso, and a pattern of spotted fur covered her hindquarters. She usually hunts for food from the sky, but toys with prey on the ground.
Phadyn spread her large wings and thrusted herself to the air, the wind at her back. She flapped her wings a bit to reach an updraft, which she spiraled up to where she was higher than she was before. Her wings were now at a still state, having her soar over the lands. Though she preferred running upon the land, she did enjoy flying. She smiled a bit as she felt the wind, now at her face to stabelize her flight.
It wasn't far before she reached the lands that are almost on the edge of Acadia, the lands furthest north. There, she heard a screech, a screech of welcome from a gryphon. Not long after, she heard an answering call from another gryphon, then yet another invitation screech from the same gryphon. Phadyn flapped her wings a bit as she spiraled down a downdraft, then landed on top of an icy cliff. Phadyn wasn't used to such cold climates, shivering a bit from the cold. Her amber eyes glowed with a bit of ambience as they sought a group of gryphons not far. She recognized one as quite young, and another was also quite young. The last one that her eyes layed upon was a large, snow gryphon. Her ambient eyes widened. Was he the King of Gryphons that she heard about?
Phadyn contemplated what to do. He was the one that gave a welcoming screech of invitation to make a tribe, but how would she greet him, for she longed to be in the tribe. Sighing, she spread her wings and glided down to the frozen cliff that they were upon. She opened her beak to speak, but her mouth was dry and she was speechless. She clamped her beak shut, and bowed to the large gryphon respectfully.

Kyler saw the young female gryphon and was frozen in time for a moment. In all his rather short life, he had never been around many females. His beak sat agape a moment, before he too bowed his head, and touched his beak with hers, lifting her head. He had always held great respect for the females of his kind - how else to regard the bearers of young, and the voices of reason? After lifting the head of the fine female, he bowed deeply.
"Welcome, my lady" Kyler said quietly, with a breathy sound. "My name is Kyler, of the north kingdom of Keil, in the northernmost region of Acadia."

"My dubbance is Phadyn", she managed to say. Her eyes met his as she began to speak more."I heard you call as I entered the area. You are making a tribe, am I not right?" She shifted uneasily before speaking again."If possible I'd...like to join." She adverted her gaze from his eyes and shivered a bit before looking back at him for his reaction.

((how is that braindead?)) Jexro followed Ty, stealthy was he who had ony wings to lift him into the heavens. The goats were not his usual prey, but they would do. He like to antagonzine his prey, even though his heart was light, he had a dark side at times. "Do you go for the strong or the weak?" he asked Ty as he flew beside him.

It took a few moments for Kyler to recover his senses. He shook his feathery mane and answered "Of course madam, you are more than welcome to stay, Phadyn." He loved the sound of her name, to him, the soft clashes of sounds within it made his heart jingle, just like the names of Keil - such as Svenka, Miriktee, Barkna. Names where letters clashed and made for interesting pronunciation. But there were others, where soft sounds were made. Such as Kyermah, and Liphnon. He loved those softer names. Kyler, seemingly unable to do anything else, he sat down slowly and curled his tail around his hind legs. His massive white wings covered the whole of his back. Kyler watched the gryphoness with interest, quietly watching her, hoping she would get a little more comfortable.

"DO you hunt goats on a normal basis? I dont hunt them atall realy. I prefer to stay in the woods and hunt instead of the mountains or plains. But I supose I can do." he laughed because he was simply jokeing and makeing small talk. If he wanted he could talk for hours on end, but he got the impression that the gryphons that he has meet were a bit more serious than himself.

Phadyn smiled a bit. "Thank you very much!", she said, bowing deeply but quickly. Once she got up from her bow, she quickly looked around the place, knowing that she'll have to get used to it now that it would be her new home. She glanced around at the frozen cliffs, then down upon the ground, where she saw the two other gryphons. One looked at her for a bit, then went back to hunting. She blinked her amber eyes, noticing that she was the only female in the tribe so far, meaning that she was going to get a bit more attention from the three males that she was going to be with.
She then leapt upon a ledge just below the one she was on. Her talons and claws gripped the ice to steady herself. Once she was steady, she sat down like a cat would, though her tail hung over the ledge. She glanced back at the snowy, white gryphon that greeted her.Kyler, eh?, she thought as she stared at him for awile. Her trance was broke by a drop of water that fell on her head. She first thought it was the icy cliff, but then she looked at the dark, cloudy sky.Rain! She looked around as a few other drops fell on her, trying to see if there was shelter or if a tribe member had an idea.
((OOC: Since there wasn't much of a plot, I added rain. I tend to alway do that to RolePlays when it gets to that. Besides, I just had to endure through a storm the past few days so it was the only thing I could think of.))

Kyler felt the tiny liquid drops hit his beak, then his wings, and occasionally one of his ear tufts. He shook his mane, ridding it of all the water. He smiled, feeling creative and sensing the opportunity to give his tribe a home. He ran, then leapt off the cliff's edge and dove deep into the canyon. He found some small trickles of water that came from the surface and followed them to a large ledge.
Kyler smiled, seeing this place as perfect. He sat on the edge, his eyes closed in meditation. They flashed open, gazing upon the water of the river far below. He spread his wings and drew them forward, as if he were cradling something in them. Water began to spiral upwards from the river in a twisting colemn, heading towards the ledge. Kyler smiled softly as the close by drops of rain joined the river water.
Kyler once again took to the air, and clung to the rocks near the ledge. He opened his golden beak and shreed loudly at the water, which at first seemed taken aback - then, in obedience, dove forward. The water hit the wall of the cliff with force, and began to quickly erode a cave. Kyler smiled as he thought of the future of the tribe, and how he hoped that they would stay here for many generations.
It took only a few moments, and it was finished. The water obediently returned to the river, leaving behind fine work. Kyler thanked the water spirits for their help, and called out to his companions. As he waited for them to arrive, he placed his foretalons in the center of the arched opening to the cave, and pressed them into the stone, leaving six neat claw marks as a crest. He sat there, waiting, to make sure that the new additions to this tribe would have propper recognition - their marks upon the birthplace of their home.

A lone gryphon soared overhead, the rain pelting down upon his outstretched wings and exposed back. "Figures, the day I leave, it rains," he grumbled, squinting through the rain-beaded spectacles that were perched on the end of his beak. He decided to take cover in a canyon. This, however, was not such a good idea, for almost as soon as he swooped down into the ravine, a wave of water rose up and started viciously attacking the canyon wall, bowling him over. It was a good idea, he noted once he was clear of the massive jet. The water took care of millions of years of erosion in a few minutes. It was clearly magic; he could smell it in the air, even through the rain. Sure enough, there was another gryphon perched atop a spur of rock towards the top of the canyon.
The waters receded, and the other gryphon glided down to inspect his handiwork. Apparently satisfied, he left his clawprints in the stone above the entrance, marking the cave as his own. Feisian, for that was his name, swooped to another outcrop of rock and looked over the cave. "Nice job," he said to the other gryphon from a respectful distance. The one who had called up the water was obviously a force to be reckoned with!

Kyler had been so busy controlling the water that his brain had disregarded the presence of a new creature. His head swiveled to the source of the sound. "Thank you sir," he nodded. He took note of the way the gryphon carried himself - with an air of knowledge and wisdom. Kyler had always been a lover of the learned and the wise, and had tried his hardest from an early age to be like them, but found that to be a scholar was a gift.
"My name is Kyler, from the north kindom of Keil. Welcome wise one" Kyler said respectfully. He dipped his head, always having respect for those who may know more than he. "Would you like to join me inside - and my tribe?" Kyler asked humbly. This tribe was growing quickly - a good sign in Kyler's book. And a wise one would be one of the greatest additions a tribe could have.

"Well met, Kyler of Keil," Feisian said, sinking down on his forelegs in a bow. "I am Feisian, scholar and sometime-Seer." He tapped the crystal pendant on his breast thoughtfully. "The offer of shelter and lodging is welcome, but I have not been a part of a tribe for a long time." His smile became distant. "A long time..." He seemed to snap back out of whatever he was recalling, shaking his head to clear it. "Nonetheless, it'd be a nice change. Thank you."
The gryphon craned his neck upwards to gaze at yet another one. "And hello to you, too!" He called up. Despite his somewhat frail appearance, the wise gryphon was quite deft in picking the scrap of goat out of the air as it sailed towards him. "Hmm, haven't had goat in a while," he said reflectively. "And thank you!"

Kyler smiled thoughtfully. It is a good omen to have a sometime-seer and scholar in our midst. A good omen indeed... Kyler thought. He walked quietly into the cave and laid down in one corner. It was emmense, larger than one could tell from the outside. The stones were cool and a little moist as he laid down. He hoped everyone would be happy here, so that they could work together and build a home. One thing worried him - there were so few females. The harsh winter must have been hard on them. He shook his head to clear it, thinking instead on the few that were here.
